Project timeline

This simple timeline shows how the 24-month expedited rulemaking process will take place at the same time that the Gas Resources Technical Advisory Committee works to develop a temporary framework for the permitting of gas development projects.

Recommendations and draft legislation will be submitted on January 15, 2025, at the start of the legislative session. Permit applications cannot be accepted unless the legislature passes and the governor signs enabling legislation for permitting gas development projects under a temporary framework.

If that legislation isn’t passed, then the moratorium still stands and no permits will be issued until after expedited rulemaking is completed. A notice of intent to adopt rules must be published by May 2026.
